Oliver Clegg

Tongue-tied

Published on the occasion of Oliver Clegg's solo exhibition: Tongue-Tied, presented at the gallery from 8 April - 15 May 2022.

Contemplating the interplay between the present, the past, and the uncertain future, Oliver Clegg's work explores the concept of play.  Childhood toys are revisited, uncanny yet familiar through the artist's hyper-focussed compositions. With a penchant for the macabre, Clegg weaves classical Baroque aesthetics with pop iconography, presenting life as a delicate balance between tragedy and comedy.

Tongue-Tied  features Oliver Clegg's latest works from his 2022 solo exhibition at MAMOTH, including a series of works on paper and a text by Matt Price.
