Published on the occasion of Randy Wray's solo exhibition: Particulars, presented at the gallery from 8 June - 23 July 2022.
Randy Wray (b. 1965, Reidsville, NC) creates forms in oil paint which appear, at first glance, as if you are peering at them through a microscope. Oscillating between vegetal hues and psychedelic bursts of colour, these forms share an affinity with biological organisms yet, through abstraction, resist classification. Slow, languid rhythms ripple through his brushwork, making each work undulate and pulsate with life.
"Particulars" features some of Randy Wray's latest works including a body of work presented in Wray's 2022 London debut solo exhibition at MAMOTH and a text by Paul Andrew Woolbright.
